<p>NavNet 3D Charts provide more data and detail with the release of MapMedia <span class="caps">NOAA</span> Edition 2!<br />
Furuno is pleased to announce an update to the <span class="caps">USA</span> <span class="caps">NOAA</span> data supplied for all NavNet 3D systems.  The MapMedia <span class="caps">NOAA</span> Edition 2 charts include the following outstanding enhancements:<br />
<span class="caps">NOAA</span> Vector Charts (S57): This update adds 56 new Vector Charts to the library.<br />
<span class="caps">NOAA</span> Raster Charts: The entire <span class="caps">NOAA</span> Raster Chart Library has been optimized to improve chart scale density and viewability on NavNet 3D displays.<br />
Notice-to-Mariner Updates: The Edition 2 Raster and Vector Libraries include all of the Notice-To-Mariner (<span class="caps">NTM</span>) corrections provided by <span class="caps">NOAA</span>, as of September 2008.<br />
Expanded 3D Coverage Data: The 3D Bathymetric coverage has been expanded, and now covers the U.S. West Coast and East Coast Continental Shelf (Including Mid-Atlantic Canyon Data).<br />

<p>Furuno has announced an across the board (almost) price increase effective Monday, March 2, 2009. Orders shipped by Technical Marine Support Inc. by Friday are eligible for 2008 pricing. This is a substantial increase of 10-15% in the <span class="caps">MSRP</span> of most products.</p>
<p>The 2009 boating season will bring with it many new products. <span class="caps">AIS</span> class B is available from many manufacturers now. This new <span class="caps">AIS</span> (Automatic Identification System) allows pleasure boats to receive and transmit boat information to and from other boats automatically. The new class B units are much less expensive and add a level of safety to your navigation system. <p><span class="caps">NMEA</span> 2000 equipment is changing the installation world. Most boats will need an <span class="caps">NMEA</span> 2000 backbone into which various sensors and displays are attached. Radar cables are getting thin. Wiring runs are being reduced and wireless is coming on strong. Look for lots of new product introductions in 2009.</p>
